Live Long And Wander

To boldly go where no Starship Captain has gone before. Congratulations William Shatner on going to space today thanks to Blue Origin along with fellow crew members Audrey Powers, Chris Boshuizen, and Glen de Vries. At 90 years old, Captain Kirk, the oldest human to go to space, described immediately his experience after landing. It was beyond emotional. Coming from a 90-year-old person who has lived on the frontiers of our imagination, in the most beautiful way, putting fragility of age, and living in perspective. It was one of the most honest and raw responses I’ve heard: From light to darkness, from the blue sky to total blackness, from life to death. I recommend watching the whole clip.

Star Trek for many dreamers has been the catalyst for innovation in science, space exploration, technology, and life in general. The oldest source of inspiration of its kind in over 50 years, leading up to 2001 A Space Odyssey then Star Wars. The Star Trek legacy has run parallel to all that was going on in real life, from the moon landing to the space shuttle program, and beyond. Captain Kirk and the crew of the Enterprise have inspired us in the grandeur of ways while entertaining us. A future we dream of. A future we aspire for.

When Kirk went to space today, it was as if Star Trek jumped off the screens, out of the monoliths, into reality as we know it giving birth to a whole new timeline. Just like in Star Trek. Cosmic poetry at its best. The line between science-fiction on tv and science-fact in life was cross today. The bridge between worlds for us to wander across while looking up at the stars. After all, we began as wanderers….and we are wanderers still.

Live long and prosper.
